The DocsValència Laboratory

The process of creating a documentary is full of unforeseen events. It is, normally, long, hesitant, hazardous and exciting… always exciting. Many are the ingredients that are conjugated in the work that we finally see on the screen. The possible financing routes, the creativity, the clarity of the director and the unpredictability of the reality he faces, are just some of those ingredients.

Is not easy. It is not simple. For that reason there is the DocsLab, a space dedicated to the industry that the festival puts at the disposal of the filmmakers to refine their future projects with leading international professionals from the film and television sectors.

More than fifteen Valencian projects and the rest of Spain working, unraveling and reconstructing their ideas to give them shape, this is the DocsLab.

The Spain and VLC platforms are workshops that seek to generate dynamics of collective participation in which the tutors become facilitators of dialogues and conversations around each of the selected projects, as well as the themes that are part of the contents and objectives of DocsLab.

The work sessions revolve around the following axes: review of creative and production aspects, strengths and weaknesses of the projects, financing strategies and co-production schemes, international panorama, impact and outreach campaigns, festivals and markets.

Finally, the participants receive individual counseling sessions and group pitching.
